Operations Management

Operations Management is a study of the efficient production of goods and services that will satisfy the wants and needs of identified customer groups. The course begins with a more detailed description of what Operations Management is, then moves to an examination of the customer and methods for determining customer demand.


Course Objectives:

  • Describe operations management
  • Develop and employ basic customer demand forecasts
  • Plan the timely production of goods and services
  • Manage the acquisition of factors of production
  • Manage the operations process
  • Plan for and manage the distribution of the resulting goods and services
  • Understand the need for and insure the accomplishment of quality goods and services

  • PREREQUISITE: Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 083 Reading Strategies for College and ENGL 093 Introduction to College Writing, or ENGL 095 Integrated Reading and Writing or ENGL 075 Co-Requisite Integrated Reading and Writing and MATH 023 Essentials of Algebra or MATH 080 Mathematical Principles or higher
